Feature & Follow Friday is hosted by Parajunkee of Parajunkee's View and Alison of Alison Can Read.

Q: What is the BIGGEST word you’ve seen used in a book lately – that made you stop and look it up?

Mine wasn't so much a word as it was a name from They Wear What Under Their Kilts? by Katie Maxwell that my simple little brain just could not figure out how to pronounce, which was Ruaraidh, according to the the book it's the Gaelic way of pronouncing Rory. And don't ask me to pronounce it now I would probably just butcher it.

Phantom by Laura DeLuca

"What is he looking at?" Carmen asked. "Is he in love with you too, Becca? I swear, it's getting a little ridiculous the way every man who gets within five feet of you gets all weak in the knees."

{Review} Crave - Laura J. Burns & Melinda Metz

Shay could never do the things her friends could--never try out for sports, never go to parties, never fall in love. Because of the mysterious and incurable blood disorder she was born with, she can barely make it through three days of school a week.

But now, her doctor-turned-stepfather has a brand-new treatment that he thinks will change everything. And it does. As soon as the new blood starts pumping into Shay's veins, she has visions of a different life...Gabriel's life. She sees an orphanage, loss, fangs, blood, and lust that she can't explain.

Is Gabriel real? And if he is, could he really be what she thinks he is?

Feature & Follow Friday is hosted by Parajunkee of Parajunkee's View and Alison of Alison Can Read.

Q: What hyped up book do you think was worth all the talk?

This is an easy one, hands down The Hunger Games. I remember seeing it at the book store all the time thinking it wouldn't be something I'd like until I finally gave into the hype.

ARSON GABLE FEELS LIKE A FREAK. HE CAN CREATE FIRE. HE NEVER ASKED FOR IT. HE NEVER WANTED IT. BUT HE CAN'T SHUT IT OFF.

Before now, three things were true: he both loved and despised his grandmother; his life was going nowhere; and he was alone. But when a strange girl--who feels more normal behind a mask than inside her own skin--moves in next door, Arson hopes to find something he's never had: purpose. After years of living in fear, he will be forced to confront his haunting past and embrace the unknown as he walks the fine line between boy and monster. Edgy, realistic, and breathtaking, Arson, the chilling chronicle of an isolated teenager with unimaginable ability, is set to ignite the hearts and minds of a new generation.

Vivian Donovan Rei eighteen year old girl whose biggest problem is which gun to take when she goes out at night. Particularly small and apathetic, heir to a wealthy family, she was promised in marriage to one of the last pureblooded vampire. As such, she must comply with the laws of the Council, headed by her future father-in-law. Rei keeps her secrets fiercely and not allow anyone near her easily. She is the "watchdog" of the order of Raven, town utopia for creatures who broke off from the known evolution and seek asylum. In the Raven she is the law, judge, jury and executioner. "Black Lace" is a breathtaking story about the "free" choice, love and ways of life. Exciting and unusual story of love and betrayal that will leave you captivated and with never-ending need for more.

Seventeen year old Jade Sommers life tuned upside down the moment she saw the inch long cut across her face, heal right before her eyes.

Jade thought she was going insane, but her boyfriend Aiden Scott knew better. He knew what she was. And like him, she was born this way.

Now if finding out that people like her shouldn’t exist was bad enough, Jades best friend is kidnapped by the psycho who’s terrorised her dreams. With the help of Aiden, she has to figure out how to saver her, before it’s too late.

But what Jade doesn’t know, is not everything is what it seems. She is merely a puppet in a sadistic game to find out what she is truly capable of – and the game has only just begun.

Review & Giveaway The Blemished - Sarah Dalton

A beautiful world comes at a price...

In a world filled with stunning clones Mina Hart is Blemished. Her genes are worthless and that takes away her rights: her right to an Education, her right to a normal life and her right to have a child.

Mina keeps a dangerous secret which she never thought she could share until she meets Angela on her first day at St Jude's School. But their friendship is soon complicated by Angela’s adoptive brother Daniel. Mina finds herself drawn to his mysterious powers and impulsive nature. Then there is the gorgeous clone Sebastian who Mina is forbidden from even speaking to…

The Blemished is a frightening take on a fractured future where the Genetic Enhancement Ministry have taken control of Britain. It will take you on a ride filled with adventure, romance and rebellion

I love dystopian novels, and really enjoyed The Blemished. It was a quick and exciting read, it was able to keep my attention from beginning to end.

The story was engaging and had a lot of twist and turn that kept me on edge. There were some questions that popped up along the way that made me want to read more. There was plenty of action throughout the story which made sure it never dragged, and some heart wrenching moments that made you feel for some of the characters. The is not just a love triangle but a love square which adds tons of drama to the story. One thing I could not shake the entire time I was reading was how much the book reminded me of the Uglies series, that was kind of distracting.

The characters for the most part were pretty well rounded, some of them could have use a little more development. I hope to get to know some of the characters more in the future books. Mina was a great character, she's very strong willed and has a good head on her shoulders. Angela was a meek character that tries to stay under the radar, but she is stronger than she looks when it come to the people she cares about. Daniel is a natural born leader and very loyal to his friends. Sebastian, I couldn't quite figure out his deal through the story, but I hope there is more of him in the next book. Elena is the character I most hope returns in the next books as she seems like a complex character and I want to know more about her.

The ending left some open questions that makes me look forward to reading the rest of this series. Overall this was a great dystopian novel and an entertaining read.

I'm getting worse, a voice inside her head whispered. She knew it was true. Nobody ever said it out loud. Her mother and her stepfather still acted as if the cure was only a few days away from being found. But there was no cure. And she was getting worse.

Q: What hyped up book do you think was not worth all the talk?

I don't know if it was that it was so much hyped up or that it didn't live up to my own expectations, but I had a hard time getting into Silence by  Becca Fitzpatrick. It just didn't do it for me.

This is what happens when I go to the bookstore to get my son some books.... In my defense they were all on clearance.

Remember these words well. It's only a thin veil that separates them from our world. As time grows near, they will return to make their war upon mankind. They will torment, attack, and cause destruction on this planet. They will never hunger; they will never sleep. They will walk amongst us unseen. Invisible to all but those born to see. And each generation of five that sees shall endure more than the last. But the final generation of Watchers will not only endure, not only watch... ...THEY WILL FIGHT.

An infant left in the trash to die. A teenage mother who never knew she was pregnant . . . Before That Morning, these were the words most often used to describe straight-A student and star soccer player Devon Davenport: responsible, hardworking, mature. But all that changes when the police find Devon home sick from school as they investigate the case of an abandoned baby. Soon the connection is made?Devon has just given birth; the baby in the trash is hers. After That Morning, there?s only one way to define Devon: attempted murderer.

Take Romeo and Juliet. Add The Outsiders. Mix thoroughly. Colt and Julia were secretly together for an entire year, and no one?not even Julia?s boyfriend? knew. They had nothing in common, with Julia in her country club world on Black Mountain and Colt from down on the flats, but it never mattered. Until Julia dies in a car accident, and Colt learns the price of secrecy. He can?t mourn Julia openly, and he?s tormented that he might have played a part in her death. When Julia?s journal ends up in his hands, Colt relives their year together at the same time that he?s desperately trying to forget her. But how do you get over someone who was never yours in the first place?

Review & Excerpt All Things Different - Shawn Underhill

Late in the summer of 2005, starkly independent Jake Thornton was on the verge of turning 16, expecting little more than his driver’s license in the fall, and the continuance of the quiet life shared with his father. So when 14-almost-15 year old Sara moved in next door and began vying for his father’s attention, Jake wasn’t exactly thrilled, and couldn’t quite understand his father’s motives for allowing it. But certainly he never anticipated the dramatic shift their lives would take as a result.
As the summer fades and autumn takes over, friendship between the two teenagers begins blossoming into a bond, until fate steps in once more, threatening to tear them apart as quickly as they’ve come together. The decisions that follow, and the emotive tale that results, opens Jake’s eyes to the simple yet life altering truth, a truth that Sara has understood all along: that love—not the feeling but the action—is the most powerful force in the world.
